Entrepreneur mom nabs $4K at business pitch contest

Johnson City entrepreneur Jessica Edmisten scored a $4,000 prize to invest in her business at the Made Gala business competition on Friday night.

Edmisten's business, The Syrup Lady, makes hand-crafted natural berry and flower syrups to promote health and stave off sniffles, colds, coughs, and allergies. The Syrup Lady is a fixture at the Johnson City Farmer's Market.

The Made Gala is an annual startup pitch contest and black tie gala honoring the work of makers, artists, designers and entrepreneurs in the Appalachian Highlands region.
